It’s official, Anjie is crawling!!! And is she stopping there?? Nooooo, she’s using everything in her path to stand up now! I’m talking my legs, her daddy, her cot, chairs, sofas and heck, even the radiators (quite worrying I tell you)! It’s so lovely to see and I’m so proud of her! And she’s so fast too! I wasn’t expecting her to do much of these things until like 8-9 months! But believe me, I’m glad!
These achievements remind me of the Pampers commercial which shows babys’ climbing chairs with Coldplay’s Viva la Vida playing as a soundtrack. Their smiles at the end their climbs were soo proud and happy! That’s the smile Anjie has when she stands up and I just can’t get enough of it… An example being this picture! Very cheeky! Especially since she was supposed to be asleep!
My little baby is 6 months today!! My goodness where has time gone… I’m just so thankful to God for how far we’ve come! I know we’ve had it pretty easy with this girl, all things considered! She is an absolute darling most days! Yes, she gets cranky every now and then, we’re still trying to get the hang of weaning and she’s still not sleeping through but most times she’s really only up about 2-3 times between 7pm-8am so not all bad… :). I’m sure I’ll be singing a different tune about sleeping through when I get back to work in August but till then, I’m just going to enjoy what time I have left!
So what have we achieved now that we’re 6 months old? Crawling and Teething that’s what!
It’s ironic how you don’t really take note of these days (mothers’ day, fathers’ day, etc) until you actual become one. Yes, I truly appreciate my parents for all they have done in my life but since I become a mother myself I appreciate them even more. Suddenly I see and understand all the things they have done for my siblings and I and I am totally in awe of them.
But this isn’t about me, this is about fathers, because it is Fathers’ Day and I am dedicating this to my husband who became a father 6 months ago…
I am so proud that you are my husband and Anjie’s dad, and I know one day she will be totally proud to call you daddy. I might not say this a lot (but I believe I do!), but I truly appreciate everything you have done/are doing in our lives, including looking for ways to ‘make things better’ and putting a smile on both Anjie’s face and mine – something you are very good at I might add!
I appreciate how you’re always happy to help out around the house when things get a little overwhelming for me! How you happily and proudly babysit Anjie so I can have some ‘me time’ and get stuff done…
I could go on and on but I’ll stop here. There are so many ways to say thank you but sometimes words are simply not enough! God bless you my husband and we continue to pray for your success in everything you do and many more years to reap the joys of being a father. Love you loads!
To all you dads and granddaddies out there, God bless you and we truly appreciate you…
So last weekend we went to the movies. The last movie we saw was the Avengers which was amazing, there were applauds in the cinema at the end, it was that good. So this time, with much anticipation and excitement we went to see Prometheus.
Sadly, I’ll have to give it a 5/10. Hubby and I were completely disappointed with the movie as it left so many questions unanswered and for a movie which is supposed to be a prequel to Aliens we didn’t see much of them! But hey, that’s just me! I’m not a movie critic so I’m not going to talk too much about it!
Today is my hubby’s birthday and Anjie and I agreed that since she hadn’t started talking she’d have a customised t-shirt to say ‘happy birthday’ to the most important man in her life! So this was what she got for her daddy!
Hubby absolutely loved it!
His other birthday gift was another obsession of his…
So this past week saw the ‘end’ of the lovely summery weather we had been having; I have to say it was really sad to see it go! It doesn’t help that this weekend is the Jubilee weekend with a double bank holiday on Monday and Tuesday (doesn’t make much of a difference to me though!)! Would have been nice to go to the park as a family and just spend sometime outdoor. Oh well maybe the sun might still come out a bit…
So this week we had unbelievably good weather here! I’m talking 22-24 degrees! After all the wet days it was pretty much heaven sent! So not wanting to miss out, Anjie and I went to the park and had a lovely time! But just when I was thinking of putting her on the swing for the first time she fell asleep! Lol… Oh well next time!
Here’s some pictures we took… The last one is my personal favourite 🙂
Although we had a relatively quite week the weekend was busy! We decided to introduce Anjie to some baby food! Namely baby rice and banana porridge… The initial plan was to wait till she was 6 months but she’s been giving all the signs of being ready, including great head control, sitting up on her own, watching us while eating and sometimes even taking food from our plate and putting it in her mouth! So with that decide to hit the 22 week mark and start! I figured I’ll start with baby cereal once a day then gradually increase it to three times a day and bring in puree by 6 months. For now i give her the cereal after her breastmilk, that way she isn’t too hungry and cranky.
So last week we moved Anjie to her own room. I have to say that although I was the one that pushed for it I was a bit worried. This is mainly because I’ll have to wake up and go to her room to feed her if when she wakes up at night – me in my sleepy state! But that said I knew it was something I wanted us to do, and the sooner the better!
All in all, I have to say it has been fun, we’re all enjoying our new found freedom! Most times…
So this bank holiday weekend was pretty busy for us! We finally got Anjie’s ears pierced which I mentioned in a previous post, so I’m glad that is finally out of the way! Took us 19 weeks to get it done but loving the overall look.
