Off to the Movies and Weaning, again
So last weekend we went to the movies. The last movie we saw was the Avengers which was amazing, there were applauds in the cinema at the end, it was that good. So this time, with much anticipation and excitement we went to see Prometheus.
Sadly, I’ll have to give it a 5/10. Hubby and I were completely disappointed with the movie as it left so many questions unanswered and for a movie which is supposed to be a prequel to Aliens we didn’t see much of them! But hey, that’s just me! I’m not a movie critic so I’m not going to talk too much about it!
So where was Anjie in all this..?
A friend of ours nicely agreed to baby sit for us, bless her. Now unlike the last time when my brother baby sat at night, we decided to do this during the day so I was a bit unsure how Anjie would handle it. I figured this would be like her time in nursery when she resumes, surely she’ll be fine! And she was, at least for about 2 hours until we were on our way back! My friend said she started crying once I sent a text saying we were on our way! How ironic is that?? So we met her crying but really all she wanted was food, which was taking too long to cool down to her liking, lol! Once she had her food she was all dandy again! Note to self, make sure I tell the nursery to have her food ready for the little madam ASAP to avoid her getting cranky!
But all in all, it was a fun experience and was nice to have another ‘date day’ with just hubby and I :).
In terms of weaning that has been so so… In the past I’ve been doing traditional weaning where I make purée for madam and feed her (twice a day so far) what I feel is enough for her, or until she refuses to open her mouth. But for the past few weeks she has refused home made purée!! I mean what kind of expensive baby do we have! She will take a spoon or too then spit it out! I’ve tried including milk in all my fruit purée but she’s still not having it! But once I give her an ready made porridge she keeps opening her mouth demanding more!
Based on this I’ve decided to combine traditional and baby led weaning once she turns 6 months next week. Baby led weaning means I’ll give her finger food to
play with eat and she basically helps herself. This is all in a bid to get her to eat home made food :). Not sure how this is going to work, but hey, I’ve got nothing to lose really! Plus it’ll be fun seeing her grab food and trying to find her mouth! I’ve been told it can get very messy, especially with the baby led slogan – ‘food before one is just for fun’. But since she’ll still be getting purée I guess that won’t really apply to us. We’ll see how it goes when I start next week. Wish me luck!
If you have any more tips on baby led or traditional weaning I’ll love to hear about it!
Enjoy the rest of the week and weekend! X
