My Birth Story

My Amazing Birth Story the 2nd Time Around (TMI)

I woke up at about 3.30am on the 19th of February after scheduling this post around 12 midnight earlier that day thinking I was feeling different. For the first time I was having proper contractions with period like cramps and not just Braxton hicks contractions. They seemed relatively far apart so I didn’t take it seriously.

By about 4am i realised this could be the real deal so I got out my Full term app and started monitoring the contractions. Next, I got on my birthing ball and started bouncing away. Initially the contractions were about 9-12 mins apart so I just continued bouncing while everyone slept. I wanted to be certain before I started waking anyone up. (more…)

Baby Shower

36 Weeks – Baby Shower and First Week Off #Pregnancy 2

This second pregnancy of mine is turning into the first of many! For one thing, I had my first every Baby Shower over the weekend! It’s one of those things I didn’t have the first time as we were in a new town with most of our friends back in Newcastle so didn’t do anything and the same for this second time as well! We’ve been living in North Wales for just about 2 years so once again I really wasn’t planning anything but surprise surprise it happened, and it was a lovely surprise…

My Healthcare experience in North Wales vs Leeds

My Pregnancy Healthcare Experience in North Wales so far

I have to say, so far I’ve been quite impressed with the level of care I’ve received here in North Wales compared to Leeds during my first time with AJ! Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t have a BAD experience in Leeds but it did leave some to be desired. That said, what you don’t know won’t hurt you – I didn’t know I could get better service so I didn’t see it as lacking – but I’ll never forget that my appointed delivery hospital told me they were full when I was ready to give birth, that was just mind-blowing…

Be careful what you wish for, lest it come true

29 weeks – Careful What You Wish for! Growth Ultra scan #Pregnancy 2

It’s December people! Yes, I can believe it because right now I need February to get here quickly! So glad we’re in the last month of 2014! It’s been fun but bring on 2015! Here’s praying that we finish off the year with continued joy and happiness!

Last week I blogged about measuring a little bigger than recommended in my last midwife appointment, but this was partly due to fact that baby was lying in a transverse position so they couldn’t get an exact measure when they tried. However, at my last appointment it seemed okay-ish so we thought that was it! But no it wasn’t…Be careful what you wish for, lest it come true

Happy New Year! 12 Months Jabs, New Look & Job!!

Wow! This 2013 has been amazing already! Soooo much has gone on already! So much to be thankful for! Where do I start! Well first of all this is my new look…

I figured it was time for a new break and decided to do something drastic since it was a brand new year! So a massive hair chop was done! And my goodness the freedom!! I could go on and on about it :). I don’t have to worry about what to do with my hair any more, I just get up and go! After makeup of course! While I was on the hair cutting spree I trimmed Anjie’s hair as well so it’s even all round now, I think she’s so much cuter now! (more…)

16 week Immunisation and finding a Nursery/Daycare/Childminder

16 weeks and it’s that special time again for the dreaded vaccines… This month she had 3!!! But thankfully she took it well, crying for a few seconds and then was okay. Next thing I knew, she was asleep like this! Bless her…

This is her third set, had one at 8 weeks and 12 weeks; thankfully the next one would be when she turns a year old or so. Also with this vaccine it means we are closer to getting her ears pierced

12 week Baby Vaccination and a Barbecue in the Sun

So last week Friday Anjie got her second set of vaccination at the baby clinic. My darling daughter took it like a champ and cried for a few seconds and that was that! I felt so proud. She had one on each thigh. Now this is the immunisation for 12 weeks and apparently there’s another at 16 weeks which is three!!! OMG!! What are they trying to do! Anyway we will cross that bridge when we get there…

We also went for a barbecue on sunday where we saw a totally new side to Anjie…

Anjie gets her Immunisation and 6-8 week Check

So my folks left at the beginning of the week. I can’t say it has been a walk in the park… We’ve had some good days and not so good days (or rather nights!) with the little madam! But like my mum says ‘everyday is plus one’. She won’t always be like this, – not sleeping through the night, or eating every 2-3 hours – infact there will come a time when she will be almost too independent! So take it easy!

1 month later – The Attack of Baby Rash!!

So Anjie turned one month today! I’m not going to say ‘how time flies’ because I remember each and everyday! I do wish the time would go faster cos I cannot wait till she’s more interactive and sleeps through the night – that’s just some of the things I’m looking forward to right now…
