First of all, happy new year everyone! Only took me about a month to say that 🙂
Towards the end of 2016, we decided to make some changes which I knew was going to make the start of 2017 very interesting, and we haven’t been disappointed at all! It’s been busy busy busy! All in all, I’m super thankful for how everything has turned out and we’re already starting to reap the benefits of some of those changes…
First of all, Happy New Year! This post should have come last year but better late than never! 🙂
We finally did a birthday party for Aj the weekend before Christmas and it went better than I expected!
I previously blogged about Nigerian vs British kids parties and I was torn on how to go about the party. I knew I wanted it to be as stress-free as possible (for me!) but for it to be fun for the kids. Hubby and I were pretty much on the same page regarding this AND maintaining a non-expensive budget too!
As the year quickly comes to an end I thought it’ll be a good idea to just say thank you to all my offline and online friends! For being there, reading, dropping comments (or not) and just sharing our lives with us. (more…)
This second pregnancy of mine is turning into the first of many! For one thing, I had my first every Baby Shower over the weekend! It’s one of those things I didn’t have the first time as we were in a new town with most of our friends back in Newcastle so didn’t do anything and the same for this second time as well! We’ve been living in North Wales for just about 2 years so once again I really wasn’t planning anything but surprise surprise it happened, and it was a lovely surprise…
Merry Christmas!! Better late than never right? Hope you all had a lovely time with family and friends 🙂
This past week has been crazy busy for us! We had a lovely Christmas holiday and now trying to get back into the swing of things – especially as this is the last day of 2014! It’s been an amazing year and I’m thankful to God for so many things this year! I’m also super excited about 2015 not just because Aj’s sibling is on the way but I also plan on using this maternity leave to re-evaluate a number of things in my life!
Without getting too introspective (something which always happens around this time of the year), here’s what we got up to over the holiday!
Last weekend was what I classed as the birthday weekend as AJ had two parties to attend from her friends in the nursery and she had Sammy the Bear over so it was a fun weekend for her all round! It was actually quite interesting for me as a Nigerian parent as this was my first proper British birthday party. We’ve gone for quite a few Nigerian kiddies parties so it was quite interesting to see the difference in experience. Note, we’re talking about toddler parties here!
A friend of mine on Facebook recently posted a testimony on his page which brought a tear to my eye – tears of joy of course! I’ve known this guy from my university days in Akungba and his a great guy, he was very helpful back then in Uni and coached a couple of us when we were struggling with Calculus – I’ll never forget him for that because he saved us! We could have failed that exam if it wasn’t for him! Fast-forward to after uni days and it turns out he married someone from our school too (our school back then was tiny, so most people knew of each other!) and God has blessed them with two beautiful kids!
On his birthday, he said he just had to share this testimony with everyone and asked me to share too… I hope it touches someone out there and gives you the strength you think you don’t have!
In the next few hours 2013 will be ‘all done’ and we’ll be making a fresh start in 2014!
2013 has been an amazing year and I’m thankful to God because He has been faithful! I know I’m blessed and that is that! I’m quite excited about 2014 and looking forward to the challenges and joys to come with it.
Before we end 2013 I thought I’ll add our december pictures, including a few from Anjie’s birthday and visits from family and friends. Thanks to everyone that came around and made Anjie’s birthday/Christmas awesome!! Love you guys!
