Thank God for the start of another year!
What is starting to become a little trend for me it seems is to do something ‘different’ with my hair at the end of the year. Last year I had massive hair cut and got a new job, now that was pretty exciting! This year, I haven’t gotten a new job but I do have a new look, again! To be fair it’s not really a new look because I just coloured my hair, but it is quite a ‘radical’ colour (or so I’ve been told) and I LOVE it!
Now I’m not really a fan of new year resolutions especially as I have a tendency of not going through with them, so I’ve just decided to make plans and goals as and when they come upon me!
That said, I have decided that enough is enough, I MUST sort out Anjie’s hair this year! So the plan is to learn more about caring for ‘natural kinky hair’ and practice on my daughter! Her hair has grown quite nicely over the year and I’m just thinking it’d be a shame to cut it again. So I’ll be doing little dreadlocks-like-twists from time to time and packing it in bits as well. I’ve done it a few times already and it makes her look completely different! The first one took us the whole day to do! She just won’t keep still and trying to do it while she slept woke her up! The second time took about 5 hours… we’re getting there! I’m hoping it’s one of those things which will eventually get easily for both of us but if it doesn’t we’ll review the situation!
Something else I want to get into is baking! Growing up my mum and sisters loved to bake while I would spend my time licking the spoons and bowls used especially for the cakes (I’m sure I’d still do this now!)! We did more of cakes, chin chin and puff puff growing up but I want to be a little more adventurous. So Anjie and I (yes, I’m recruiting my daughter for this job!) will start by baking chocolate cookies! This is something we both love so I’m sure it’ll be fun! Anjie does a bit of baking in her nursery which she loves, so this won’t be new to her but it’d be another activity to do while we’re home together… I’ll let you know how it goes! Plus baking ourselves means we get to eat slightly healthier cookies compared to the ones in the shop – that’s another one of my excuses and I’m sticking to it!
And of course, I just had to share my current favourite picture of my little missy and I…
